Thesis and dissertation support: a coach by your side
Choosing a topic, building an outline, writing, preparing the defence: a My Sherpa coach supports you at every stage of your bachelor’s or master’s thesis, at a university college or a university.
Sessions take place at home anywhere in Belgium, or online.
Months of work that you carry out on your own
A thesis is often the first piece of work you carry out alone over several months: a question to frame, reading, sometimes a survey or an internship, then dozens of pages to write and a jury to convince.
Your supervisor approves the main direction. Between two meetings, it is up to you to move forward, and that is where many students get stuck: an outline that does not hold, a chapter that stalls, a bibliography to bring up to standard.
The coach helps you take back control. The work remains yours: you write it, and you defend it before the jury.
What the coach works on with you
The coach can step in from the choice of topic or at one specific stage, depending on where you are.
Topic and outline
Framing a precise research question, presenting it to your supervisor, building an outline that holds and a realistic schedule up to submission.
Writing
Structuring each part, linking theory to your fieldwork or internship, citing your sources and building the bibliography to your institution’s standards.
The defence
Summing up your work in a few minutes, preparing your slides and practising for the jury’s questions.
The most common difficulties
Some needs come up in most theses. The coach works on them with you, and can draw on our private lessons in the subject concerned.
Surveys and statistics
Designing a questionnaire, processing the answers in Excel or statistics software, then presenting and interpreting the results.
Writing and proofreading
A clear style, a well-built argument, careful spelling. And, if required, an abstract in English or Dutch.
Organisation
Writing your thesis alongside classes, an internship or a job: the coach helps you plan your weeks and meet your deadlines.

A coach chosen for your field
Nursing, accounting, IT, management, psychology, law, sciences: your educational advisor reviews your topic, where you stand and your submission date with you. They then choose a coach who knows your field and has written a thesis themselves.
Sometimes a few targeted sessions are enough, to unblock a chapter or prepare the defence. Regular support moves you forward week by week until submission. Sessions take place at home anywhere in Belgium, or online, with the document shared on screen.
Thesis support: your questions
No. A thesis is personal work, assessed as such by your institution, and you are the one who defends it before the jury. The coach helps you structure, write and proofread your own text, and explains each correction so that you can do it on your own afterwards.
In French-speaking Belgium, both conclude higher education with a personal piece of work, written and then defended before a jury. The TFE (travail de fin d’études) usually concludes a bachelor’s degree at a university college. The mémoire usually concludes a master’s degree, at a university or a university college. In Flanders, the equivalents are the bachelorproef and the masterproef. Requirements vary from one institution to another: the coach starts from your programme’s rules.
As early as possible, from the choice of topic: a good outline saves weeks. The coach can also step in at a specific stage: a chapter that stalls, proofreading before submission, preparing the defence.
Your educational advisor looks for a coach who knows your field, based on your topic and your programme. For a highly specialised topic, the search starts as soon as you get in touch, and you are kept informed.
Yes. Our team welcomes students in English, French and Dutch, and your advisor looks for a coach who is fluent in the language of your thesis.
