Primary school tutoring, at home and online
A private tutor who comes to your home or joins you by video call, from the 1st to the 6th year of primary school. Homework support, reading, arithmetic, study skills and CEB preparation, across Belgium.
What really happens in primary school
In primary school, a pupil does not yet have a method of their own: they do what school shows them. When something does not click (a times table, reading a question, everyday spelling), they cannot spot it on their own, and the gap widens from one year to the next.
Our coaches work on the cause: they go back to the underlying concept that is causing the block. At this level a session usually lasts 1.5 hours, long enough to make progress without wearing a child out.
Private lessons start at €35/hour in primary school. The first three sessions are a trial period: if things do not click with the coach, you continue with another one, at no extra cost.
In the 6th year, CEB preparation is built up over the whole year. By June, it is too late to establish a method.
We also offer homework support, for the evening’s work, and study skills lessons, to learn how to get organised.

Support adapted to learning disorders
ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism (ASD), dysorthographia, dysphasia… Some children need a different way of explaining, organising and learning. These difficulties can affect their confidence, motivation and independence with schoolwork. My Sherpa takes the time to understand your child's profile and needs in order to select a suitable coach. The coach adjusts their pace, explanations and methods to help your child progress, develop concrete strategies and regain confidence in their abilities.
Primary school tutoring: your questions
From the 1st to the 6th year of primary school. The earlier the support starts, the shorter it is: a reading difficulty spotted in the 2nd year can be dealt with in a few sessions, while the same difficulty, grown into an overall delay by the 5th year, calls for a full programme.
CEB preparation happens over the 6th year, not in the spring. The work covers three things: filling in the concepts that are still missing, learning to read a question all the way through, and practising on past papers so that the format is no longer a surprise on the day.
We recommend 1.5 hours in primary school. That is enough to cover one complete objective, while still matching the attention span of a child that age. Beyond that, the last few minutes achieve very little.
Yes. During the needs assessment, the educational advisor takes the time to understand your child's profile: their difficulties, the way they learn and what already helps them. They then select a coach suited to that profile.
The coach adapts their pace, explanations and methods, and helps your child build concrete strategies for working.

In primary school, a difficulty that lasts often ends in “I'm useless”. So the coach starts from what the child can already do, then moves forward in small steps the child can succeed at.
Every session has a clear objective, and at the end the child sees what they have learnt. The setting stays supportive: a mistake is used to understand where things get stuck, never to judge.
The educational advisor chooses the coach based on the needs assessment: the subject, the level, your child's profile and your availability. Every one of our coaches has been met in a one-to-one interview.
The first three sessions are a trial period. If things do not click, you continue with another coach from the team, at no extra cost.
