Doing homework, understanding lessons, becoming independent

Homework is often the tense moment of the day. The child is tired, the parent does not always have the time or the teacher's method, and the evening turns into a negotiation.

The coach takes over at a set time. They go through the homework diary with the child, support them with their homework, have them study their lessons and go back over anything not understood in class.

With their coach, the child learns to organise their work, concentrate and check what they know, to become more independent step by step.

What it changes

A regular appointment the whole family benefits from

Homework support does not replace school: it builds habits that will serve throughout schooling.

For the child

An adult there just for them, explanations at the right moment, and homework finished without losing heart.

For parents

Calmer evenings, and regular feedback from the coach on what is going well and what is not.

For what comes next

Study habits in place before secondary school, where the workload grows.

Support adapted to learning disorders

ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism (ASD), dysorthographia, dysphasia… Some children need a different way of explaining, organising and learning. These difficulties can affect their confidence, motivation and independence with schoolwork. My Sherpa takes the time to understand your child's profile and needs in order to select a suitable coach. The coach adjusts their pace, explanations and methods to help your child progress, develop concrete strategies and regain confidence in their abilities.

Homework support: your questions

Homework support follows the work set by the school, day by day, and builds good habits. Private lessons work on a subject in depth, to fill a gap or prepare for a test such as the CEB. Your educational advisor helps you choose, and the two can be combined.

This is agreed with your educational advisor, depending on your child's needs and your availability. Sessions can take place on any day of the week, weekends included.

The rate depends on the programme agreed with you: your educational advisor sends you a quote, with no obligation. Payment can be spread over monthly instalments.

Yes. Let your educational advisor know: they will choose a coach used to this profile, who adapts the pace and materials to your child's needs.

Vibeke was a fantastic coach for our son Julian. She listened carefully to our needs and found a way to get him to learn Dutch in a very smart and practical way, and importantly in a way which he greatly enjoyed. He now associates learning Dutch with a very positive experience and is keen to learn more. Many thanks Vibeke!

It was great the way the lessons transferred easily online with the confinement of this period. Alexia was very professional, adaptable, and the time was well-used.

Our coach was excellent. He is experienced and showed great dedication and concern for my kid. He always prepared his lectures and was very careful with the objectives. I would like to have him again for French lessons for my child next year.
