Rebuild the basics before the gaps grow

In primary school, almost everything builds on what came before. A concept poorly understood in 3rd year (times tables, fractions, reading instructions) causes trouble beyond that year: it comes back to block the pupil two years later, often without anyone making the connection.

So the coach starts again from where the child lost track. They work with the child's own exercise books and their school's programme, at the child's pace, and without the label of "the one who can't keep up".

At this age, the most lasting gain is a child who dares to raise their hand again.

When the need is the daily work set by the school rather than one subject, we offer homework support.

Specific needs

Support adapted to learning disorders

ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism (ASD), dysorthographia, dysphasia… Some children need a different way of explaining, organising and learning. These difficulties can affect their confidence, motivation and independence with schoolwork. My Sherpa takes the time to understand your child's profile and needs in order to select a suitable coach. The coach adjusts their pace, explanations and methods to help your child progress, develop concrete strategies and regain confidence in their abilities.

Private lessons in primary school: your questions

One session a week is the most common pace in primary school: regular enough for the child to make progress, spaced out enough for them to practise in between. The pace is part of the programme set with your educational advisor and is adjusted along the way.

The first three sessions serve as a trial period. If your child doesn't get on with the coach during this period, you continue the programme with another coach from the team, at no extra cost.

Yes. A child who is ahead sometimes switches off as much as a child who is struggling, because nothing requires any effort from them anymore. The programme then focuses on going deeper and on working methods rather than on catching up.

Vibeke was a fantastic coach for our son Julian. She listened carefully to our needs and found a way to get him to learn Dutch in a very smart and practical way, and importantly in a way which he greatly enjoyed. He now associates learning Dutch with a very positive experience and is keen to learn more. Many thanks Vibeke!

It was great the way the lessons transferred easily online with the confinement of this period. Alexia was very professional, adaptable, and the time was well-used.

Our coach was excellent. He is experienced and showed great dedication and concern for my kid. He always prepared his lectures and was very careful with the objectives. I would like to have him again for French lessons for my child next year.
