Private lessons at home and online, across Belgium
We choose a private tutor for your child who matches their level, their difficulties and the way they learn, then we follow their progress throughout the support.
From primary school to higher education, across Belgium, in French, Dutch and English. Since 2003.
A coach chosen for your child by an educational advisor
A private lesson is a full hour devoted to a single pupil. We start again from what they haven't understood, at their pace, without the pressure of a group, at your home or by video call, whichever suits you best.
At My Sherpa, an educational advisor first takes the time to understand the situation: the subject, of course, but also the pupil's actual level, the school programme, what is blocking them and what motivates them. They then select the right person from our network of coaches, and remain your point of contact afterwards. If your child doesn't get on with the coach, we suggest someone else.
We cover the most requested subjects, from primary school to higher education: maths, French, Dutch, English, German, Latin, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, accounting, statistics, computer science and study skills.

At home or online: you choose
At home. The coach comes to your home, anywhere in Belgium. Your child works in familiar surroundings, with their own course materials in front of them, and you stay close to what is happening.
We work with families all over Brussels, from Uccle and Ixelles to Etterbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. Around the capital, in Tervuren, Overijse, Kraainem and Rhode-Saint-Genèse. In Walloon Brabant, in Waterloo, Lasne and La Hulpe. And in Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Liège and Namur.
Online. The lesson takes place by video call. This is often the right answer when schedules are tight, or when the subject is specialised enough that the right coach lives far from you. This is common in higher education.
The two options can be combined: you are free to alternate from one week to the next.
During the holidays. Lessons carry on through the school holidays, and the pace can step up: two or three sessions a week to catch up before the new school year or to prepare for a resit exam.
Support adapted to learning disorders
ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism (ASD), dysorthographia, dysphasia… Some children need a different way of explaining, organising and learning. These difficulties can affect their confidence, motivation and independence with schoolwork. My Sherpa takes the time to understand your child's profile and needs in order to select a suitable coach. The coach adjusts their pace, explanations and methods to help your child progress, develop concrete strategies and regain confidence in their abilities.
Why choose My Sherpa?
A carefully selected coach
The coaches in our network are recruited and assessed by our team. The choice is then made based on the subject, the level required and the pupil's personality.
One contact who follows your file
An educational advisor remains available throughout the support: they review progress, adjust the pace and change coach if necessary.
Working methods that last
The goal: to leave the pupil with a working method they keep once the support has ended.
What the families we support say
The questions we're asked before getting started
The difference lies in who takes responsibility for the result. With an advert, you recruit a stranger yourself and manage everything that follows on your own. At My Sherpa, an educational advisor analyses the pupil's situation, sets a programme, selects the matching coach from a team we have already met in individual interviews, and remains your point of contact afterwards. If the coach isn't the right fit, we are the ones who suggest another.
Private lessons start at €35/hour in primary and secondary school, and at €40/hour in higher education and for adults. The exact rate depends on the programme set with you: your educational advisor sends you a costed proposal, with no obligation.
Allow 2 to 5 working days on average between the moment the programme is set with you and the first session. This time is used to select the coach suited to the request rather than taking the first one available.
Our coaches give private lessons at home anywhere in Belgium. Most of the families we work with live in Brussels (Uccle, Ixelles, Etterbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Auderghem, Watermael-Boitsfort), around the capital (Tervuren, Overijse, Kraainem, Wezembeek-Oppem, Rhode-Saint-Genèse), in Walloon Brabant (Waterloo, Lasne, La Hulpe) and in and around Antwerp. If the coach who suits your child lives too far away, lessons can take place online.
Yes. Lessons carry on through the school holidays, at home or online, and the student can take two or three a week to move forward faster. The summer is mostly used to catch up before the new school year, to prepare for a resit exam at the end of August or, in higher education, for the second exam session. Get in touch as soon as the school year ends, so that the coach is chosen before the holidays begin.
To plan those weeks, read our advice on revising during the holidays and on passing a resit exam.
